I was totally shocked to learn through the local press that Tom had died. What a tragic loss- I was most fortunate to have met him when he invited me through The Duke of Abercorn to shoot in his party at Ballindalloch in Scotland in November 2000 and I shall never forget him- larger than life with a superb brain and turn of wit and generosity beyond comparison.
Please accept my sincere condolences, not only has Northern Ireland lost a great friend but the world has lost one of its great characters.
