August 02, 2008 - 10:20 AM Michael Purcell - carlowmike@gmail.com As a result of checking on the internet I have just learned of Tom's death. He was in touch with me many times over the years regarding his ancestors connections to Carlow, Ireland. Unfortunatly in his early contacts with a research centre he was not treated very well and when I heard of this I contacted him and completed some research for him also I managed to trace the family homestead in Carlow for him. I visited him in Santa Anna in 2003 and he brought me on a tour of Genuine Parts. He was concerned at that time about his health but I had no idea he was so ill. He was elected an Honorary Member of Carlow County Heritage Society in 2003. He was a man with a genuine love for his heritage and he will be missed. I will have a Mass said in Carlow Cathedral in his memory and will ask the prayers of the Poor Clare community of enclosed sisters to pray for his family. mick. IP : 86.46.197.218 |
